Tennessee Afterschool Network accepts cy pres awards and is grateful for the support that these awards contribute to out-of-school programs in our state.
CY PRESS AWARDS: Cy Pres is a doctrine that permits a court to award any unallocated, unclaimed, or undeliverable funds from a settlement or judgement to a non-profit organization. As a statewide non-profit organization, Tennessee Afterschool Network (through United Ways of Tennessee) is eligible to receive nominations and awards for cy pres funding.
Tennessee Afterschool Network is an ideal choice for a cy pres award. Cy pres awards can directly support the work of Tennessee Afterschool Network (TAN). If you’re involved in a legal settlement, please consider directing a cy pres award to the Tennessee Afterschool Network (through United Ways of Tennessee). These awards make a big difference in improving the lives of students in communities throughout the state.
Connection to many classes: Because the Tennessee Afterschool Network works to bridge people, local schools, and educational resources together so students, families and schools thrive in Tennessee, in many substantive areas (such as afterschool safety, homework help, drug use prevention and recovery, building resilience, healthy activities, and education), we have a nexus to most types of class action cases. To help support our mission through cy pres, please add Tennessee Afterschool Network (through the United Ways of Tennessee) to your firm’s list of eligible cy pres recipients. Interested in making a cy pres award? Please contact Mary Graham, President and CEO of United Ways of Tennessee and lead staff member of the Tennessee Afterschool Network, at mary.graham@uwtn.org, if you have any questions about the Tennessee Afterschool Network’s accomplishments or the cy pres process.
With these awards, TAN could fund programs to create healthier kids, provide more youth opportunities, and better prepare students for work and life. It would also help students’ families access nutritious food and other needed services. And it would expand educational resources.
