Wednesday, March 26, is the official Day-on-the-Hill for Tennessee Afterschool Network in partnership with Save the Children Action Network and United Ways of Tennessee. We need you to join us to help us inform our Tennessee State Legislators and make an impact for afterschool and Tennessee families.

Appointments
Schedule your appointments in advance, and please make them for no earlier than 10:15 A.M. so we have a big crowd for photos in the morning. Here are some helpful links where you can find information on your elected officials: Senators – TN General Assembly, Representatives – TN General Assembly, http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/Apps/fmlv3/districts.aspx, and Find My Legislator – TN General Assembly
Distanced Program Participation (for adults and kids)
While there will not be a hybrid option for this event, you can support these efforts from a distance if unable to make it in-person. You can send an email with correspondence and materials, schedule a phone visit or zoom, and participate in helping us distribute social media content on Hill Day (social media messaging will come your way on March 17). We also encourage organizations serving children and youth to engage them in the process. Pull up their legislators on screen and share some info about them with the students. Ask them to email their legislators or tag them on social media with a supportive statement about why afterschool programming matters to them. Last hill day, 14 afterschool programs did this – even sending legislators videos, cards, and more. It’s a great way to engage them in civic responsibility while showing elected officials your local support and engagement.
Materials
We will be providing all attendees with legislative handouts on afterschool, STEM, 211 and other important issues. SCAN will also have materials unique to their own objectives. We encourage you to bring your own local materials – especially program outcomes – and “presents” to present to your legislators (e.g. a t-shirt, mug or other give away–items that stick around on desks or will be worn or carried around are ideal).
Questions/prep
Have questions or want a little more support? Stacey is here to help you, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can contact her at 615-440-1235 or slangford@tnbankers.org
We look forward to making our Day-on-the-Hill in 2025 our most effective ever.
