United Ways of Tennessee (UWTN), the Tennessee Afterschool Network (TAN), and Save the Children are cancelling our Day on the Hill on March 4 due to the aftermath of several tornadoes that struck Nashville, Wilson County, and the greater Middle Tennessee region in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 3. The Advocacy and Legislative Champion Awards have also been indefinitely postponed.
Due to the tornado in Nashville, Cordell Hull activities have been cancelled until further notice. The Governor has sent some state employees home, roads are closed, and there are still power outages.
Most importantly, our hearts and prayers go out to all the victims of the tornado! We will reschedule a Digital Day on the Hill in the near future.
For more information regarding the damage occuring in Nashville, read this Tennessean article. For information on ways to give, visit United Way of Greater Nashville’s Restore the Dream link. About Restore the Dream
Restore The Dream is a vehicle for corporations and individuals to support the long-term capital structure and infrastructure restoration of the community. It will provide resources to the network of non-profit service providers who respond to human needs and assist individuals in putting their lives back together. The fund supports nonprofit agency programs as they deplete resources meeting immediate and short term needs of individuals. This includes providing reinforcements for organizations such as Red Cross, Salvation Army, Second Harvest and many others.
